For Texas Game Wardens, it’s not just a job. It’s a way of life.
Texas Game Wardens serve as first responders in many communities, leading the way in critical search and rescue operations and rendering aid during times of natural disaster like hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and wildfires. The Texas Game Warden K-9 Team assists in public safety and natural resource conservation, including locating missing and stranded persons during search and rescue missions, detecting concealed wildlife and firearms, and uncovering illegal smuggling operations. Since launching in 2013, the K-9 Team has successfully conducted dozens of search and rescue operations. TPWF supports other Texas Game Warden Special Teams as well, such as providing specialized equipment and training for the Search and Rescue Team to keep officers safe during high-risk swift-water rescues in floodwaters.
